Over the course of more than two decades, Birmingham s UB40 have become global ambassadors for reggae, a journey captured perfectly on The Collection. This programme is split into two main sections: a 26-track video collection and a documentary detailing their 20th anniversary concert in September 2001. Forgoing chronology in favour of a more random approach, the video selection is slightly disjointed on a visual level, leaping from decade to decade within the space of a couple of tracks.
While they have never made a truly great video (most feature the band lip-synching in various places around the world) UB40 have certainly been prolific over the years. One In Ten and Food for Thought , their earliest work, represented the sound of young, multicultural Britain just as well as the more lauded Specials. And while there have perhaps been a few too many covers in recent times, it is hard to deny the effectiveness of Red, Red Wine and Kingston Town .
Much of the success of the documentary depends on how interesting you find infinite shots of pony-tailed men wheeling flight cases, but it does provide an insight into the background to such an event (which took place two days after the World Trade Centre attacks), if not the band themselves. There is also some excellent live footage, featuring guests such as Chrissie Hynde, Freddie McGregor and Sly & Robbie--proof that, despite the critical sneers, UB40 have taken their place amongst the reggae greats.

Tribute concert to the great Bird filmed in Paris in 1989, and featuring a stellar cast of the greats of jazz saxaphone. Artists featured include: Max Roach, Phil Woods, Percy Heath, Jackie Mclean, Stan Getz, Hank Jones, Milt Jackson and Dizzy Gillespie.
Charlie Parker One of a handful of musicians who can be said to have permanently changed jazz, Charlie Parker was arguably the greatest saxophonist of all time. He could play remarkably fast lines that, if slowed down to half speed, would reveal that every note made sense. Bird, along with his contemporaries Dizzy Gillespie and Bud Powell, is considered a founder of bebop; in reality he was an intuitive player who simply was expressing himself.

Rather than basing his improvisations closely on the melody as was done in swing, he was a master of chordal improvising, creating new melodies that were based on the structure of a song. In fact, Bird wrote several future standards (such as Anthropology, Ornithology, Scrapple from the Apple, and Ko Ko, along with such blues numbers as Now s the Time and Parker s Mood ) that borrowed and modernized the chord structures of older tunes.

Parker s remarkable technique, fairly original sound, and ability to come up with harmonically advanced phrases that could be both logical and whimsical were highly influential. By 1950, it was impossible to play modern jazz with credibility without closely studying Charlie Parker. simultaneously for the Savoy and Dial labels, was in peak form during the 1947-1951 period, visiting Europe in 1949 and 1950, and realizing a lifelong dream to record with strings starting in 1949 when he switched to Norman Granz s Verve label.

Charlie Parker, who was early on influenced by Lester Young and the sound of Buster Smith, visited New York for the first time in 1939, working as a dishwasher at one point so he could hear Art Tatum play on a nightly basis. He made his recording debut with Jay McShann in 1940, creating remarkable solos with a small group from McShann s orchestra on Oh, Lady Be Good and Honeysuckle Rose .
When the McShann big band arrived in New York in 1941, Parker had short solos on a few of their studio blues records, and his broadcasts with the orchestra greatly impressed (and sometimes scared) other musicians who had never heard his ideas before. Parker, who had met and jammed with Dizzy Gillespie for the first time in 1940, had a short stint with Noble Sissle s band in 1942, played tenor with Earl Hines sadly unrecorded bop band of 1943, and spent a few months in 1944 with Billy Eckstine s orchestra, leaving before that group made their first records.

Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band from Birmingham, formed in 1969. The core line-up consists of lead vocalist Rob Halford, guitarist Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis. The band has gone through several drummers over the years, though Travis has held the position since 1989 and is the longest-serving. They have been cited as an influence on many heavy metal musicians and bands. Their popularity and status as one of the definitive heavy metal bands has earned them the nickname Metal Gods from their song of the same name. They have sold over 50 million albums worldwide. They were named the 78th greatest artist of all time by VH1 in 2010 and 2nd Greatest Metal Band by MTV (after Black Sabbath). The band got its name from the Bob Dylan song The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest , according to original vocalist Al Atkins. They are known for a twin lead guitar style, Halford s wide operatic vocal style, and for introducing the S&M leather and studs look into heavy metal. As of 2011, bassist Ian Hill has remained the only founding member of the band, due to guitarist K.K. Downing s retirement from the group.

At the age of 13 he started mixing his first vinyls, but the work DJ-a began in the century of years 17. In years 1988 - 1990 worked for the French radio station Novelties. In 2009 a new titled disc appeared they Love , among others which Kelly Rowland stars of the R&B- music will appear on, Akon, Will.i.am and Estelle.

Aero is Jean Michel Jarre s first experiment in surround sound as well as being the most respectable best of album in 13 years. The album features reworked versions of his golden oldies and three new pieces. The result of the new orchestration is a modern-sounding remix album, rather than a definitive greatest hits.
